演講主題:Statistical Quality Techniques to Service Science and Engineering

演講大綱:Driven by a new business environment including globalized economy, business automation, and business and technology innovations, the service sector keeps growing and now accounts for more than 50 percent of the labor force in the developed economies. It reaches as high as 80 percent in the United States and the United Kingdom. With the shift in economic focus from manufacturing to service, industrial and academic research facilities may need to apply more scientific rigor to the practices of service, such as discovering better methods to use statistics and mathematical optimization to increase quality, productivity, and efficiency to meet the challenges. This talk will focus on the development of statistical quality techniques, and discuss several technical challenges and recent extensions to the service engineering research area.

現任：香港科技大學工業工程與物流管理系主任及質量實驗室主任，美國工業工程師學會(IIE)院士，美國質量協會(ASQ)院士，香港工程師學會(HKIE)院士。

簡歷：宗教授曾在福特汽車、Rockwell和克萊斯勒任職。任職科大後，他積極參與有關質量改善和管理的教育及研究工作，為不同行業提供培訓及顧問服務，包括製造、銀行、電訊及醫療等行業，例如：飛利浦電子、ASTEC、ASAT、NXP、創科實業(TTI)、Nortel Networks、中國移動。

宗教授於國立台灣大學取得機械工程學士學位，其後於美國密歇根大學獲工業工程碩士及博士學位。他在質量研究方面作出了重大貢獻，是大中華地區首名榮獲美國質量學會(ASQ) SixSigma黑帶的權威，亦是該學會特許的SixSigma黑帶大師之一。並於2008年獲美國工業工程師協會 (Institute of Industrial
Engineers)選為亞洲區副主席，並任工業工程學期刊IIE Transactions及Technometrics的副主
